LOWER OWENS RIVER JASON
Jason Fritz
Webmaster/Creator/Guide
age 30

Lived in Mammoth lakes since 2005

I have always felt that there has been a really great fishing report site missing from the Eastern Sierra area. I am trying to bring what the ocean report sites have to offer and give excitement to our readers.

I have been fly fishing for 6 years now. I am not new to fishing in anyway, first started spending my days on the water when i was still in diapers bass fishing in Castaic Lake. I spent many years fishing the LA and Ventura county lakes. I fished bass tournaments for 3 years, and after that moved onto the salt water. I spent 10 years of my life fishing 3 days or more a week in the saltwater before moving to Mammoth Lakes.

Since moving to Mammoth Lakes, i picked up the art of fly fishing. I have now dropped all conventional gear and you'll only find me with a fly rod in hand these days.

My days off are spent searching for trophy class trout. He spends countless hours tying his own styles of streamer partners that work exclusively for big fish. He is a king of the alpers in the Mammoth Lakes basin, but don't count him out on showing up with some impressive pictures of the Crowley Lake browns. When you see Jason on the water in his float tube you can bet your money on it that your fishing in the right spot. Jason has mastered the art of fly fishing from a float tube.

Dave Leak
Guide/Fishing Reports
age 34

Dave found his passion for fishing at the young age of 9, living in Southern California. It all began with chasing largemouth bass and bluegill on small, local ponds and lakes on conventional gear. It was not long after that when dad got him his first fly rod at the age of 12, and he took his first trip to the Eastern Sierra. In the years to come his passion for the mountains, and the trout that live there, became an addiction.

Dave joined the team at The Trout Fly in the fall of 2004, and attended The Guide School at Clearwater House on Hat Creek in the spring of 2005. After 15 years of fly fishing the Eastern Sierra, and a summer of "shadowing" the master guides in the group, Dave felt it was time to join the guide staff and follow his dream as a fishing guide.

When dave isn't spending his 40+ hours a week guiding you you can usually find him float tubing on Crowley chasing monster trout, or exploring the many alpine lakes which hold the elusive wild trout of the Eastern Sierra. When it comes to moving water, exploring the rivers and streams from Bishop to Bridgeport keep him busy the rest of his free time. Basically you could say Dave's life revolves around fly fishing and everything the Eastern Sierra has to offer.
