My Tip Of The Week will be for the spin fishermen this week. All too often I see people not catching or even hooking fish. Reason for this is most trout anglers are just vacation anglers and aren't out doing it every day. One of the old stand by set ups for fishing in the Eastern Sierra has been the Fly and A bubble tecnique. This is a pretty simple rig, much like a carolina rig for bass fishing. You don't have to actually use a Fly when fishing this way either. You can use it in many types of forms, dough bait, trout worms and even small lures. The set up is simple. You will need to purchase some small swivels, a water bubble and hooks, bait, and flies, and flurocarbon. Now if you haven't used Flurocarbon I am going to go into great detail about this in next weeks Tip Of The Week. Start off sliding your water bubble onto your main line. Next tie your swivel on. After that strip off a piece of flurocarbon about 3 feet long and tie that to your swivel. Now your almost done just tie your choice of lure to the end of the flurocarbon and your all done. Some of the great advantages of fishing this way is the many uses it has. The best reason is casting distance, with the weight of the water in the bubble you can cast this a mile. You can fill the bubble with water so that it still floats and drag your fly accross the surface or fill it all the way up and fish in different depths of the water colume. For using it with a dough bait, it will have a slower sink rate that an sinker would not have, alowing fish to see it as its slowing sinking down to the bottom on the lake, giving you a better chance at the fish. |
